Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Our mission statement is to work as a team to promote a love of learning, where every child, regardless of their starting point, is inspired, challenged and supported to reach their potential. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, where we value each individual, their uniqueness and the contribution that they make to our whole school community.

We provide a safe, caring, enjoyable and challenging learning environment where pupil voice is valued and expected in helping to shape and move our school forward. We believe that every child has equal worth, standing and opportunity, regardless of race, gender, creed and ability, whether they have physical, sensory, emotional, behavioural, specific or general needs. Every child is entitled to a broad and balanced curriculum which is based around the National Curriculum.

Our SENDCo and Inclusion Leader is Mrs J Salter. We ensure that our SEND policy follows the guidelines and inclusion policies of the Code of Practice (2014), the Local Education Authority and other policies current within the school.

A child or young person has special educational needs if he or she has a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for him or her. A learning difficulty or disability is a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age. Special educational provision means educational or training provision that is additional to, or different from, that made generally for others of the same age in a mainstream setting in England.

Specific details of provision, the agencies we work with and the process of identification and types of support available can be found in our local offer

Should you be concerned about your child having a learning difficulty, please do not hesitate to contact the school office to speak to Mrs Salter. If you have complaint about how your child's Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is being dealt with, please see our Complaints policy here.
