Headteacher's Welcome

As Headteacher, I feel privileged to extend a very warm welcome to Radstock Primary School. We are a vibrant, caring and inclusive school community where children are encouraged to grow, explore and flourish. Children are at the heart of every decision we make, and we are committed to ensuring that each child feels safe, valued, respected and inspired to achieve their full potential.

At Radstock, we believe that education is about far more than academic success alone. Our aim is to educate the whole child by nurturing confident, curious and resilient learners who think creatively, work independently and aspire to achieve their very best. We want our children to become happy, articulate and respectful young people who are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges of an ever-changing world.

Our school values underpin daily life at Radstock and shape the way we learn, behave and support one another. We foster a culture of kindness, mutual respect and high expectations, where every child is encouraged to aim high, persevere through challenges and take pride in their achievements. Through our Growth Mindset approach and our “Secrets of Success” learning behaviours, children learn that mistakes are a valuable part of learning and that effort, determination and resilience are key to success.

We are proud to offer a broad, ambitious and enriching curriculum that brings learning to life through first-hand experiences and meaningful opportunities. Alongside high-quality teaching in the classroom, our children benefit from a wide range of experiences including sport, music, art, cooking and outdoor learning. We place great emphasis on oracy, communication and vocabulary development, recognising their importance in helping children become confident learners, articulate communicators and responsible global citizens.

Inclusion lies at the heart of our ethos. We are committed to providing high-quality teaching and support for all pupils, ensuring that every child, including those with additional needs, can flourish academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Our dedicated staff team works tirelessly to create a nurturing environment where children feel happy, valued and motivated to learn.

Strong partnerships between home and school are essential to children’s success. We greatly value the support and engagement of our parents and carers and believe that by working together we can provide the very best opportunities and outcomes for our children. We are committed to maintaining open, positive and supportive communication and warmly encourage families to play an active part in school life and our wider school community.

As a school, we are continually reflecting, evolving and striving for excellence. We celebrate achievements whilst encouraging our children and staff to embrace challenge, demonstrate resilience and always seek to improve. Our ambition is for every child to leave Radstock as a confident, articulate, independent and compassionate learner, equipped with the knowledge, values and skills to thrive in the next stage of their education and beyond.

I hope our website gives you a glimpse into the warmth, enthusiasm and strong sense of community that make Radstock Primary School such a special place. Visits to the school are always warmly welcomed, and we would be delighted to show you firsthand how our children learn, grow and flourish within our caring and inspiring school environment.

I look forward to meeting you and working in partnership to ensure every child is inspired to thrive, succeed and achieve their full potential.
